It's easy to forget the bigger projects and ideas and goals when I get caught up in my day-to-day life {and my need for instant gratification}.
But I have big ideas too. Projects that would take months, if not years, to complete. Stuff I jot down in paper journals then promptly forget to start.
So here we go. Some of my big ideas & goals, so that I have a place to track my progress.
- my 365 project, a daily creativity book project - 365 pages of ideas organized in a beautiful way
- landscaping my yard, including: demolishing the shed, replacing it with something functional, creating a beautiful garden, getting rid of the weeds & garbage, planting edibles, creating my outdoor room complete with translucent roofing material, removing three problematic trees, and creating fun play spaces for the kids. UPDATE: got rid of 1 of the three trees, planted several veggies plus her garden, one dump run completed. UPDATE 2/12: Succulents on my rock wall are doing well & getting established, weeds are a huge pain though. Some herbs and lettuces still doing well all winter.
- my dictionary project {using up all the pages from an old dictionary for crafts} expanded to include using up all my decorative papers, old magazines, and some of the redundant books collecting dust at my office. an art/craft project of a huge scale. probably literally hundreds of smaller projects done over time.
- teach my kids to speak Spanish. They are 1/4 Mexican, and we live in California - which I think are two very good reasons they should be able to carry on a conversation in Spanish. Considering I was only semi-fluent in Spanish at my best {the summer I lived in Mexico City for a month}, this means re-learning a lot myself, reading picture books in Spanish, etc. UPDATE: my 3-year-old can count in Spanish as well as he does in English (to 20) and both kids will sit through a short picture book that is in Spanish.
- turn my group fitness teaching into a part-time career: become certified to train instructors in at least one subject, get more certifications myself, design my own classes, train clients one on one, get nutrition/weight loss certifications, begin teaching at more gyms, create some kind of online coaching or a combination of in person training plus phone calls or emails to help people reach their goals
- get published in craft publications - nationally circulated magazines, some of the bigger craft blogs, craft books
- write an e-book on digital scrapbooking & art journaling with GIMP
And a few things for my bucket list...
- Road trip up to Washington and back
- Take the kids to Disneyland
- Visit the wine tasting castle in Napa
- Visit New Mexico
- See the Grand Canyon
- See some of the natural wonders in Utah
- Take the kids to see Death Valley
- Finish knitting the blanket I started when pregnant with my son
- Host a craft party {involves making more friends locally who love crafting as much as I do}
- Get a facial
- Read the whole Harry Potter series {and other novels} out loud to the kids. I loved listening to chapter books with my dad when I was not quite old enough to sit and read them to myself. He read us the Narnia books and The Hobbit {Harry Potter wasn't yet available, obviously}.
- Really decorate for Halloween, at least once {planning this one now - will be a bunch of blog posts if I get it done}
- Take an in-person art/craft workshop {again, I've taken some in the past}
