Collaborative Charm Necklace
Posted by Leah on Aug 23, 2006
For the past few months, I’ve been collaborating with a talented group of artists - both jewelry makers and artists who normally work in other mediums - on a collaborative charm necklace, which will be auctioned off to a charity working on breast cancer research.
Before the necklace is auctioned off, everyone who participated (by contributing a charm they designed and created) is taking a turn wearing the necklace to a special event.
Cyndi, of Mazel Tov! Jewelry Treasures, organized this project. She also compiled all of the charms into a beautiful necklace, and started the necklace on its journey. First stop Lowell, Massacusetts for an art quilt show. Read about it in Cyndi’s blog. She also has a picture of the necklace that shows all the charms. (Mine is on the left side of the necklace, up near the neckline - it’s a small pendant, really, in the style of the freeform pendants I make with silver wire and pearls).
After the necklace left Cyndi, it headed to southern California to Wendy of Indigo Skye Bead Fashions. Wendy took the necklace up to Seattle on her vacation. Read about it in her blog. Tomorrow, the necklace heads off to its next destination! I’ll update the story of the necklace as it makes its rounds all over the US.
