Resin Jewelry In Progress & New Crocheted Pendant
Posted by Leah on Apr 17, 2007

I’m really excited about this batch of resin pendants I’m working on. I love the contrast between the old hardware parts and the fake flowers, and I even like the background color I mixed.
Here’s a new crocheted pendant, which I think is pretty cute, although it would be a lot cuter if I had used really thin yarn:

I’ll have a tutorial for this one written up later in the week. It’s easy, and made from a very small amount of sport weight yarn - but as I said, I think it would be cuter in an even thinner yarn.
I have been contemplating doing some resin work. How in the world does one get started? What are the basics that you need to do it? I have lots of research to do I guess. I love your resin work. Very nice!
I took a class on resin with mixed-media jewelry artist Susan Lenart Kazmer. But you don’t have to take a class - there are kits available for two-part epoxy resins that are pretty inexpensive if you want to experiement (envirotex lite is one that I often see at craft stores). Basically, you need a two part resin, measuring/mixing cups, and something like popsickle sticks to stir it. Then you can start experimenting. Thanks for writing!
