Can you use a propane torch to fuse silver?
The answer to this question is definitely yes - you can use a propane torch to fuse silver. In fact, the only torch I use is a propane torch I bought at the hardware store, and it works great for fusing and soldering silver. I've used it with sterling, argentium, and fine silver. I've also used it to anneal copper & solder copper using silver solder.

I would like to fuse a heavier gauge of fine silver wire (8 gauge and 8 gauge). My Blazer torch isn’t up to the task. I’m wondering if a propane torch is the answer.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
meant 6 gauge and 8 gauge.
A propane torch should work for that. It’s hotter than the small butane torches and also larger.
Just a couple of questions. Can the size of the flame be controlled (i.e. different tips)? Also, any thoughts on models? Thanks.
On the torch I got, which was ACE hardware brand, you can control the size of the flame with a little knob. I don’t know about models – since I got a cheap one at a hardware store, probably any brand you get will work at least as well as mine!
Leah, thanks for all the help. I’ll check out the various models.
