Revamped Jewelry

Remember my demolition post from last week? I finally got around to taking some photos of the first batch of jewelry made from the scraps! These pieces were all made by cutting off the "bad" parts of the piece and figuring out a way to reshape or refinish what was left into jewelry I like. [caption id="attachment_851" align="alignnone" width="400" caption="Re-used Gold Fill & Freshwater Pearl Pendant"]Revamped Gold Fill & Freshwater Pearl Pendant[/caption] Looking at the photos, I see at least one mistake that needs to be fixed (I left a wire end sticking out on a lovely earring) but overall I'm really happy with my "new" jewelry - it mostly has the feel of the old pieces, but it "works" now while the old stuff just didn't quite. I'll be offline for most of today because it's an absolutely GORGEOUS fall day here in the bay area - we're having an October heat wave, one of my absolute favorite things about the climate here - and there's a Cal game, which means my college friends are in town. GO BEARS! Oh - and from my Thursday Thirteen post - types of beads used in these pieces:
  • Freshwater Pearls
  • Faceted Round Gemstone Beads
  • Smooth Round Gemstone Beads
  • Gemstone Rondelles

good idea for the bottom of your earring! when you’re using semi-precious stones and good metals, it’s a shame (and a waste) to throw things away. Our Etsybloggers team has a “Treasure It Forward,” started by Lily at Tulips’s Treasure Box, to pass off items we no longer need/want.

    Very nice images.

I love the first pendant. Nice color combination. Simple and elegant. Can it be a brooch too?

    Thanks everyone!

Storybeader – I should really join a group like that, I have lots of beads that I’ll probably never use up.

Polly – it could be a brooch, but you’d have to have a converter to hang it from. That’s something that I’m working on & eventually will have available in my shop, but you can buy commercial converters too.
