Fabric Jewelry
I just read Fabric Jewelry: 25 Designs to Make Using Silk, Ribbon, Buttons, and Beads
by Teresa Searle. Loved this book. Sewing is one of the few crafts I haven't really gotten into, but not because I don't want to - I just keep trying not to buy a sewing machine, or a dress makers dummy, because living in a small bay area home, there just isn't room for all the craft stuff I'd like to try!
So, I was at the library, and saw a book on making fabric jewelry - and now I really want a sewing machine. The projects in this book are attractive, photographed well, and they don't seem like they'd be hard to make...if I had a sewing machine. I suppose some of them I could try using hand-stitching, which I have done, so I may be able to put off getting my sewing machine a little longer...
Anyway - as I am not a sewer, I really have no idea if the techniques in this book are innovative or not, but they were pretty much all new to me, and I ended up reading almost all of the project instructions - then, when I finished, I read the whole book again. That is exactly the reaction I want to have to a new craft book - wanting to read through again as soon as I finish, to make sure I didn't miss anything.
