Now that Thanksgiving is over, I’m getting into the holiday spirit a little bit – making copper ornaments, and getting ready to decorate a very small Christmas tree, which will sit on top of our coffee table where it’s safe from curious babies who want to eat everything they find on the ground….
I’m lucky to live in an area where it’s as likely as not to be 60-something and sunny on a late November afternoon, so I took my son to see Santa at an outdoor festival yesterday in Yountville. Unfortunately we were a little late, and Santa was closed for the afternoon, but I had a nice time tasting some wine, chocolate, and other treats. I’m pretty sure my son could care less about seeing Santa anyway, but it would have been fun to get a photo.
Quick poll, if you’re still reading: what colors do you use to decorate your home during the holidays? Tell me in the comments! I always think of red and green this time of year, but I’ve seen beautiful holiday decorations in metallic colors, winter white, blues, and last year some gorgeous shades of purples and browns. If you celebrate a holiday other than Christmas, are there traditional colors for decorating for the holiday you celebrate?
I found my jewelry included in a couple of holiday-themed treasuries last week. Thank you so much to Adroit Jewelers for including my red resin pendant in this Rudolph treasury and to Little Brown Bird for including my copper square studs in her Outside the Box Christmas treasury! I wish you both lots of sales to brighten your holidays!

I use red and white in my living and silver and white in my dining room (they open to each other). This year I’m going with paperwhites and lemon cypress on the mantle and I’m making a new red felt tree skirt with white designs on it. I try to do Martha Stewart on a Target budget.

Lisa, that sounds really pretty! So far all I’ve done is decorate a very small tree with red and gold ornaments, but I didn’t really think about the colors – we just happened to have enough of those two colors that are small enough to look right on a tiny tree.

I tend to use all the deep jewel colors, but heavy on purples and pinks (with “reds” in the burgundy to magenta range)…gold accents
