It’s Take 10 Tuesday!
The FAM Etsy Street Team is having another fabulous promotion and this time it’s take 10% (or whatever!) off in any of our participating shops!

Etsyfame artist spotlight April 21

The featured artist on etsyfame.com this week is Andrea Baker. Andrea sews really cute things like business card holders, aprons, and sleep masks. Here’s a little of what her etsyfame.com feature says:

Like Swarovski pearls?

I have a bunch for sale in my etsy shop!
Swarovski pearls are actually Swarovski crystal with a beautiful pearl coating. They are some of the nicest faux pearls I’ve seen, but I don’t bought way more than I’ll be able to use up so I’m selling off all the extras.
They would be great strung into a necklace for Mother’s Day….

Have you seen the new website etsyfame.com? Created by Annie Howes from the Fabulous Artistic Moms (FAM) of Etsy team, it features loads of beautiful handmade items by FAM members. My jewelry is there, along with purses, baby clothes, photographs, illustrations, even some very tempting sweet treats. The site is beautifully designed too, and you can browse the various shops by clicking on the names in the left-hand column. I’m really excited about this site and plan to use it when I’m looking for nice handmade gifts.
100 Etsy Artists

I was catching up on etsy news and found a link to this great article which lists 100 visual artists on etsy. Of course these are personal favorites of the author, so there are many, many talented artists not represented here, and there is definitely a preference for the style that the author prefers which may or may not be what you prefer, but I enjoyed looking through the list and discovered some artists I’d never seen before.
If I have some free time, maybe I’ll compile a list of some of my favorite craft artists on etsy someday….

Etsy front page

One of my resin pendants was featured on Etsy’s front page yesterday. Here’s a little screenshot of it, you can see mine in the right-hand column, second from the top:
All of the featured pieces are made by Bay Area artists/designers. I was really impressed - there are some talented people in this area! It was a nice surprise to see my work on the front page with so many really great pieces.
Felt Beads

I’ve been making a bunch of felt “beads”. I put beads in quotes because they don’t actually have a hole in them, so really they are felt balls - but they can be used just as beads. All you have to do is poke a needle through them to string into necklaces, bracelets, etc. They can be strung on something thicker, like wire, by poking a needle through & immediately following that with the wire. I’ve made earrings and pendants this way, and they are really fun.
These are fun to make. Working with loose wool fiber is really different from working with metal, so I think of them as something completely different from most of the jewelry I make and sell, but they give me a chance to just play with color and experiment with new techniques. I’m gradually incorporating some felt into finished jewelry, but mostly I just like making the beads.
