Dreams and Jewelry

June 12th, 2007

Andrea of Dreams and Jewelry made these beautiful earrings with a verdigris patina:

She was selling her beautiful enamel jewelry along with patinated metal creations like these earrings at the Southbay Soiree. I didn’t get a good picture of her enamel work, unfortunately, but you can see some of it on her dreams and jewelry website. [...]

Craft Links

June 7th, 2007

Just a few links to some stuff I’ve been checking out around the web this week:
Crafty Daisies -
Learn to Crochet, Lesson 3. This lesson has links to videos demonstrating some common stitches, like shell stitch, that are slightly more complicated than the basic single and double crochet stitches.
Jeannine of Designs by a Hummingbird reviewed [...]

I’ll post some pictures of my own from the south bay soiree eventually, but in the meantime, check out Chel’s adorable photo-journal of her doll, Ellie, checking out everyone’s goods!

Robin Atkins, a well known beader and author of beading books, started a bead journal project. There are over 200 people signed up to participate in this project, which involves creating one beaded journal page per month.
I can’t wait to see the results! From the main project blog, you can click over to the various [...]

Crocheted Bobble Cuff

May 21st, 2007

This is my favorite crocheted jewelry design so far. Maven Fair last weekend was a blast. So much talent in one place! And a well-organized show, with great gift bags for customers, and freebies from sponsors BUST and CRAFT: magazines.
But you don’t have to take my word that it was an awesome show. Check out my friend Andrea’s very sweet post about my [...]

I got a *ton* of entries for this carnival (which was for May 10th, not 12th as I mistakenly wrote). If I missed your entry, I sincerely apologize - don’t hesitate to submit to the next edition. A few people submitted more than one article, and in those cases, I picked one to include. Since [...]

I just returned from a last minute trip to Los Angeles, and managed to squeeze in some art sightseeing while I was there.
I really enjoyed the galleries at the Bergamot Station Arts Center in Santa Monica. Lots of paintings, some sculpture/installations, and one gallery of “functional art” or what many people think of as “fine [...]

Crochet Basics

April 18th, 2007

I found some great tutorials on crochet basics. If you want to learn the stitches that I use in my tutorials, head over to The Purl Bee’s Crochet Basics. There are great pictures of each stitch!

Crochet Flower Tutorial

April 18th, 2007

Here’s my second crocheted pendant tutorial. For this one, I used a sport weight yarn called Craft from the Vickie Howell yarn collection. The red color is called Chica. I used a 3.75mm crochet hook.

To begin, chain 8 & join with a slip stitch to form a ring. Single crochet 14 times into the ring, [...]
