Silver Canyons
Posted by Leah on Aug 7, 2008
Silver Canyons, a jewelry maker I know through the Jewelry on Etsy team, is my top entrecard dropper this week
She makes beautiful jewelry, which you can purchase in her etsy shop - click the link to her blog above to find our more about what she does.
(*If you have no idea what entrecard is, it’s a networking/advertising site I started using. There’s a little widget in my sidebar that displays the site of the day, and people who are members can drop their card by clicking underneath that blog ad.*)
Fam Back to School Fling
Posted by Leah on Aug 5, 2008
One of my pendants was featured by Merkaba Jewelry in this lovely treasury. I realized as I was about to post this that I don’t think I’ve mentioned the Back to School Fling that the FAM etsy team is having. Find owls hidden in the images of featured shops (including mine) to win prizes. See the FAM blog for more information.
Anyway, here’s a screenshot of the treasury:

Sweet Pickles Pottery

Sweet Pickles Pottery is the current featured artist over at etsyfame.com. I think her shop name is very appropriate, because she paints the sweetest things on ceramics. If I had a daughter, I’d be tempted to give her a hand painted tea set…

T10T - July 15th
Posted by Leah on Jul 15, 2008
FAM is having another Take 10 Tuesday sale, with many shops offering 10% off or more in their etsy shops. Check the FAM blog for a list of participating shops and the specific deals they are offering.
Everything in my shop will be 10% off, including items in my $10 and under section — but only from 5:00 pm to midnight, eastern time, on Tuesday July 15th. Write “t10t” in notes to seller, and wait for me to send you a revised invoice before paying. Every purchase in my shop also comes with a free sample size jewelry polishing cloth, the same kind that I use to keep my silver jewelry shiny.
I’m in trouble…
Posted by Leah on Jul 13, 2008
…because a really big craft store just opened up in the shopping center where I usually do my grocery shopping. Bye-bye paycheck! Hello craft books, magazines, yarn, scrapbooking stuff that looks like it could be made into jewelry….and the craft organizers, I could spend a small fortune just on those! And now, of course, I’m seeing that I could really use a sewing machine and a needle felting machine, not that I have room for any more big crafting items.
The only way to avoid it is to stop going to the grocery store…which is probably not going to happen. So I guess I have to sell more jewelry instead, to support my habit.
I started a $10 and under section in my etsy shop - since I’m not doing craft fairs, I have a lot of inventory to clear out, so I’m marking it down way below what I normally sell it for. I’m photographing all kinds of things - earrings, pendants, even some bracelets - and I’ll be adding them to the shop over the next few weeks. Many of these items are discontinued, meaning I don’t have more of the beads/supplies used to make them and I don’t plan on buying more.
As a jewelry designer, right now I’m more interested in working with metal than anything else. However, I’ve been buying jewelry supplies and making jewelry for years, so there’s a lot there that doesn’t quite fit my new style. There isn’t anything wrong with it - I’m even keeping several pairs of fun earrings to match different outfits - but it’s not what I’m doing anymore.
So it’s all going on etsy. Not all for $10 or less, but mostly for under $30. In other words - really affordable for handmade jewelry, especially since it’s all made using high quality sterling silver or gold filled metal - no nickel or lead to worry about.
Resin pendants in styles I’m not doing anymore are also marked down - some more than 50% off the original prices. They no longer come with chains, but I have chains available for purchase for anyone who needs one. I am going to continue working with resin, but I have new ideas, and I don’t want all this old inventory just sitting here.
So…if you are a fan of my jewelry but didn’t think you could afford it, visit my etsy shop and feed my addiction to craft books and supplies…
