I also just discovered a great blog, Creative Every Day, which hosts the Art Every Day Month each November. It's not too late to join in if you want to try to make art every day for the rest of November.

Thanks to Google alerts, I found out I was mentioned on Dulcey Heller's blog. Dulcey does amazing beadwork, definitely worth checking out.

Last but definitely not least - there is a holiday art and craft show coming up in Sonoma that should not be missed. No, I'm not selling at it, but I'll be there shopping! It is the Sonoma Artisan Faire and it's from 12:00-5:30 on November 23rd (the Sunday before Thanksgiving) at the Veterans Memorial Hall in Sonoma, California.

Last year my mom got a journal from This is It for Christmas, and I recently treated myself to some lip balm and facial scrub from Daisy Wares - it is so yummy smelling, and guilt free since it's vegan.

We actually did the interview a little while ago so I just want to point out that one of the links is outdated - I'm no longer updating my 365pendants blog, because I decided to focus on making pieces that are a little bit more labor intensive & that means I can't realistically finish one every day.

I also started selling my work on etsy since the interview was done - you can see my shop here.

Thanks Cyndi for writing up the article!

A new law is going into effect very soon in California to protect consumers from lead poisoning in jewelry. Many base metal and plated or painted products contain lead, so to be safe, when purchasing jewelry *ask* what it is made of and if any materials contain lead. Once the new law goes into effect, jewelry containing lead will have to be labeled as such & have a warning about the effects of lead.

Silver, copper, and gold do not contain lead. Some metals that may contain lead are silver plated, gold plated, and pewter.

Pearls and gemstones do not contain lead.

Most glass beads do not contain lead, but many crystal beads such as Swarovski crystal, are made with lead. Unlike plated metal, however, the lead in Swarovski crystal is not ingestible, according to this notice on the Rings and Things website about lead in jewelry products. In other words, it appears that Swarovski crystal is safe despite being made with lead, because it is impossible to ingest the lead. I recommend reading the entire article on the Rings and Things site about lead - it is very informative.

When purchasing jewelry or other gifts this holiday season, use common sense, and never put something in your mouth if you think it might contain lead - and don't give jewelry to young children if any of the materials could contain lead.

Why should you attend this event? Because you want to support bay area artists and crafters, because you want unique, beautiful gifts for all your friends this year, and because the quality of goods is going to be fantastic.

I've actually shopped with at least two of the vendors - This is It and Daisy Wares - and if their stuff is any indication of the overall quality of the show, it's really going to be amazing! Last year my mom got a journal from This is It for Christmas, and I recently treated myself to some lip balm and facial scrub from Daisy Wares - it is so yummy smelling, and guilt free since it's vegan.

Why should you attend this event? Because you want to support bay area artists and crafters, because you want unique, beautiful gifts for all your friends this year, and because the quality of goods is going to be fantastic.

Thanks to Cyndi, the author of the blog for featuring me and arranging all the images so nicely. You can read about all of the jewelry artists Cyndi has profiled on her blog here. She also profiles mixed-media artists on another blog, Layers Upon Layers, here. The guy who makes porcelain urinals really caught my attention - definitely unique!
