Black Freshwater Pearl Ring

Freshwater Pearls on Argentium Silver Wire

This beautiful freeform ring features two cultured freshwater pearls on a handmade argentium silver ring base.

The pearls have been color treated to look like black Tahitian pearls. They have a beautiful irridescence to them, one with purple undertones and one with green undertones. I love the look of black pearls, so I was excited when I found freshwater pearls with such great color. (Freshwater pearls are naturally usually white, off-white, pink, or cream colored, but using dyes and irradiation, pearl producers are able to get just about any color imaginable.)

Argentium sterling silver is 92.5% silver combined with small amounts of copper and germanium. The germanium gives the metal some tarnish resistance, so it doesn't have to be polished as often as standard sterling silver.

My wire rings are crafted by hand using a freeform technique, so no two are identical. I make them in argentium silver as well as 14k gold filled metal, using a variety of freshwater pearls, gemstones, and glass beads. Shop online for rings in my etsy store. Scroll down to see more examples
